Doomsday, Judgement Day, Rapture Day- Reality or Delusion??

2012, a science fiction disaster film, directed by Roland Emmerich upon its release in 2009 created chaos in the minds of the people. This movie made everyone think whether story in this movie a myth or a fact?? The movie was all about how the Mayans were right and how the world will end on December 21st, 2012 based on the Mayans calendar. Even though no one believed on the story but we all enjoyed the movie and its graphics. There are various events which substantiate and negate the above view.

I still remember Doomsday word came into limelight in May 2003. At that time there was rumour that world would end in this year. This delusion came into mind of the people because Egyptian calendar ended on that year. They also had a belief that rogue planet name “Nibiru” will destroy the earth but fortunately nothing happened.

Seeing the total number of death toll in these two years because of the natural disaster is compelling us to rethink about the “21st December 2012”. In 2010 and 2011 alone, several natural catastrophes occurred amounting to loss of more than 300000 people. Devastating earthquake and Tsunami in Chile, Haiti and Japan alone had killed millions of innocent people. Monster Tornadoes in United States of America have taken lives of hundreds of people.

American Christian Harold camping stated few days back that May 21, 2011 is the Rapture and judgement day which of course has passed now and we all are safe. Now his prediction is that world will end on 21st October 2011.

Massive Earthquakes, Tornadoes, Harold Camping’s Prediction, flooding of the Mississippi in the Midwest - Are all these signs of the “End Times”?? Do we have to believe in the movie 2012 which we watched just for fun? This will haunt us till December 21, 2012 which is the end day for the world’s destruction according to Mayans Calendar.

Contrary to the some of the common beliefs about the end of the world, NASA unravels the truth behind this story. Scientists have assured us that nothing bad will happen and obviously on the basis of their facts we completely rely on them. According to Hindu mythology this is the era of kalyug and it is traditionally thought to last 432000 years and we have completed only 3500 years of kalyug.

Natural catastrophe can occur at any moment and no human being has the power to combat or prevent its disaster. One should accept this fact and try to embrace the uncertainty. This will certainly help in enjoying the present moment. Since childhood we all have been hearing “Life is a precious gift of god”. There is very well saying that “Life is not to be taken seriously as nobody ever came out alive.” We all know life is too short so one should make the most out of our life. We should enjoy every moment of life so that even we are gone we will not regret about the things which we always wanted to do.

Love…Laugh…Live…Who knows what tomorrow has in store?"
